Myra Neal Morrison grew
up in Washington, D.C. with her parents Dr. Fred W.
Morrison and Emma Neal Morrison. Her love for animals
began as a child with her participation in horse shows
and trips to her grandfathers farm in Scotland
County, NC. Myra graduated high school from National
Cathedral School. She attended North Carolina Women's
College in Greensboro, currently known as UNC-Greensboro,
for two years. She finished her undergraduate degree, 2
years of law school, and a year of graduate business at UNC-Chapel Hill. During this same time, Myra attended
agricultural courses at NC State
University in Raleigh, NC, which
helped her with her future farming career. Myra is active in several farming organizations. She is an Area 12 Director for the American Brahman Breeders Association . Myra is a director with the North Carolina Simmental Association and an active member of the American Simmental Association. Myra was president of the Carolinas Brahman Breeders Association in 1999-2001 and continues as an active member. She also served as Chairman of the Board of Supervisors for Cabarrus County Soil and Water Conservation District for several years. Myra is the mother of three daughters Trish, Sandy and Shirley, and the proud grandmother of Dane, Alexander, Morgan, Owen, Nicolas, Jaden and Mayah. She spends most of her time with field work and taking care of the cattle. What free time she has is spent with her grandchildren and working on her computer. She has built her own database program as well as spreadsheets to track her cattle and update calving, vaccinating and breeding information. She is an avid collector of orchids and has two very spoiled shih-tzus named Cookie and Pidge-Pooh. |
